Honours Opening

Saturday, November 19th, 2005

Opening night crowd listening to Carig JuddThe Honours exhibition opened last night and there was a huge crowd buzzing about between the artwork displays.  There is such a diverse range of work there, that it would be hard not to find something that interests you as a  viewer.  Printmaking has a hefty presence and the diversity between the techniques and outcomes there is huge.  The honours year is such an intense experience, and people tend to push their limits in an experimental way, both with the techniques they use and the theme they choose to stretch their research and imagination about.

Highly Recommended, Honours invite, 2005

Finally the end of the year nears and the innovative work of the honours group will be on show!  Well worth checking out this diverse group, which includes printmaking, painting and video.  Opening this Friday at 5.30pm, the show will continue until November 27th.  Craig Judd, the senior curator from the Tasmanian Museum and Art Gallery, will be opening the exhibition, which is being set up at the Plimsoll Gallery, located at the Tasmanian University School of Art, Hunter Street, Hobart.

As a bonus there will be further displays of the work within chosen sections in the art school building (which is the converted Henry Jones IXL building).  This is well worth wandering about to look at, as the students produce a large body of work through the year which just wouldn’t fit in the Plimsoll Gallery.

The group comprises of Stefanie Bird, Melanie Breen, Nicole Choroszy, Troy-John Emery, Diane Foster, Andrew harper, Linsay Hurst, John Ingleton, Iona Johnson, Benjamin Kluss, John Lownds, Abbey Macdonald, Robert Machin, Dorothy Maniero, Peter Robinson, Tomoko Taira, Travis Tiddy, Frances Watson and Daniel Zucco.
