At last I get to Images!

The Images exhibition is in its last couple of days, closing at 6pm on Wednesday the fourth.  So it was out amongst the Taste of Tasmania goers, Sydney to Hobart Yachties and buskers drawing big crowds to seek out the show.

Diane Foster, ceramic rocks, 2005Diane Foster has just completed her honours year at uni, and her work extended beyond the regular printmaking techniques.  Here she has carved ceramic rocks with island motifs to further the theme of her honours study.

Another HIP member, Carolyn Canty, had a row of images that combine her love of pottery and print.  The enchanting images reflect her experiences in an Italian hilltop village.  Carolyn also has a members gallery page which talks about the body of work.

Mandy Renard also has work in the show, and the prints are a new series which "…form an exploration of Tasmania’s wild and natural places…"

Iona Johnson (detail), 2005Iona Johnson is also present and a member of HIP.  My photo fails to capture the delicate cutting which features in her lino cut, or the lovely rich colour, so its bets to check it out live if you get the chance!

There are several other printmakers represented in the show, including Sara Maher, Leonie Oakes, Dorothy Maniero and Yvonne Rees-Pagh, so its worth while making a dash through the Salamanca crowds to see the exhibition in its last couple of days.
