The opening night for Iona’s exhibition attracted quite a crowd and being a bit late I missed out on the choloclate coated strawberries… Still, it was fantastic to see such a good turn out for the show, and I’m sure you can see why from the photos I took.

Whe the crowd thinned - time for a photo or two!

Iona describes her work as "an exploration of the sensations evoked on plunging into the icy mountain streams of Mount Wellington. The shock of the cold makes me shudder when I enter the dark pools of swirling water. This gradually transforms into pleasure as my body adjusts to the elements."

Iona Johnson

Iona also quotes K. Clark (Civilisation) "Total immersion: this is the ultimate reason why the love of nature has been for so long accepted as a religion. It is a means by which we can lose our identity in the whole and gain thereby a more intense conciousness of being."
I think her work superbly expresses her thoughts and inspiration. The exhibition continues until March the 10th at Entrepot Gallery, Hobart. The gallery is open between the hours of 9.30 and 4.30.
