HIP in Images of Tasmania 9
Following the very successful “Members Exhibition” in the Sidespace gallery (five works sold) Hunter Island Press was offered an opportunity to display member’s work on a rotational basis during the subsequent “Images of Tasmania 9″ exhibition in the Salamanca Arts Centre’s Long Gallery. The exhibition ran from December 18th until January the 4th and the works of ten members from the previous exhibition were displayed during this time. Although it was a bit hectic putting up and pulling down work every four days everything went pretty much according to plan (thanks to all those who took part).

The final day of the exhibition with prints by Margaret McAteer, Selwyn Stein, Karen Lunn, Jane Tyler and an artist’s book by Fiona Fraser
The main objective of the exercise was to promote HIP and the work of our members and in this we were very successful. As well as creating a talking point for artists and visitors alike we also gained some new members and an offer of funding to assist with the purchase of equipment for the new studio which is expected to be ready for occupation by April this year.
Many thanks to Jan Peacock and the other organisers of “Images of Tasmania 9″ for this opportunity to participate and promote the objectives of Hunter Island Press.
