Marco Luccio At Colville Street
Sunday, October 7th, 2007
The current exhibition at the Colville Street Gallery has some of Marco Luccio’s fabulous drypoint prints from his European adventures. Trudi from the Colville Street Gallery writes;
“For his exhibition Pentimento Marco Luccio traveled to Paris and Florence for the inspiration of those two beautiful cities. Working on site at Arc de Triomphe he had the radial boulevards and structure of this classic city laid out before him, overlaid with the current life of crowds, traffic and hot air balloons. His dramatic cityscapes and architectural gestures reflect the energy and passion of these French scenes, complete with iconic Eiffel Tower and gargoyles. Florence presents a different sense of domes and tiled roofs, the rebuilding and scaffolding reminding us of the pulse and continuation of these living cities.”
Diane went along to the artist talk on Saturday afternoon and highly recommends this exhibition to anyone interested in printmaking.
Marco Luccio has an excellent website with a number of works that are on show in Hobart as well as paintings and photos which allow a glimpse into inspirations behind his artworks.
The Hobart exhibition runs until the 24th of October and the gallery is located at 54 Colville Street, Battery Point, Hobart Tasmania.
