Kaye Green workshop

Wednesday, March 16th, 2011

The 2011 workshop program got off to a great start with Kaye Green’s Deconstruction/reconstruction workshop on Sunday 13 march.

Kaye explained the reasons for her passionate attachment to reworking images into alternate forms such as collages or artist’s books and showed many samples of  her own work.

All the participants quickly adapted to this new way of looking at their prints. Working singly or in small groups they started playing around with Kaye’s ideas and by the lunch break we could see exciting new pieces starting to take shape.

Perhaps the outcome is best summed up by one of the artists who said,’I feel that it has opened up a new way of working for me, and a new format.  I love the idea of making books in all sorts of ways, re-using old work, and also making new work specifically for book making’

Thanks again Kaye for your inspirational facilitation of this workshop

Phenomenal

Saturday, February 12th, 2011

Phenomenal is the appropriate word to describe Iona Johnson’s PhD exhibition, ‘Nocturnal Phenomena’ which is currently showing in the University of Tasmania’s Plimsoll gallery. This exploration of the experience of being in the environment in the night is a sensory experience not to be missed. Congratulations Iona on a truly awesome outcome. nocturnal-phenomena-iona-johnson

The exhibition can be seen Saturday 12th and Sunday 13th, 12-5pm only, so drop what you are doing and get down to Hunter street for an unforgettable experience
