Anita Wanless
Anita Wanless was born in Tasmania, Australia.
She previously worked as a graphic designer for Clemenger Tasmania, whilst completing her fine arts degree in printmaking and electronic media at the University of Tasmania. She now runs her own business Stream Art Design P/L where she combines art, business and graphic design.
Her early conceptual investigations were inspired by a quote by Oscar Wilde “…Man is least himself when he talks in his own person…Give him a mask, and he will tell the truth”. Now she explores the idea of a mask as a tool to reflect upon the innate barriers we often develop to hide/protect our inner identity. Further to her studies that lay central to concepts of a ‘mask’, her work deals with ideas and concerns relating to identity, inhibitions and personal expression. And, more recently, how these are aided through personal experiences with the Internet and digital technology.
Anita currently sells her etchings, digital prints and greeting cards through local and national galleries, and will release them for online sales in 2009.
